A Fine Large Pair of Louis XVI-Style Gilt-Bronze Wall Sconces, c. 1850
This fine large pair of wall sconces, finely chiseled, stands out for its original gilding, combining both matte and polished finishes. Their elegant decor, composed of ribbons, bows, and passementerie, is enlivened by three light arms shaped like rose branches, adorned with flowers and foliage.
An exceptional French creation, these sconces reflect the decorative tradition of the Napoléon III era, inspired by the Louis XVI style. They bear the monogram GB on the reverse (research ongoing) and date to circa 1850.
