From 1971 to 2002, Gilles Bouttaz was a porcelain painter and decorator at the Sèvres National Porcelain Manufactory, where he reached the rank of head of artistic works. In this capacity, he has on the one hand multiplied trompe-l'oeil (specialist in faux wood backgrounds) and restored the value of crystallization decorations, on the other hand he has been the active hand of many artists collaborating with the Sèvres factory, while pursuing a personal work, since 2002,
