Bolesław Danikowski (1928–1979) was a ceramicist from northern France, trained at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lille. He worked as an art potter in a village near Lille and collaborated closely with the publisher "Votre Maison" by Guillerme & Chambron, for whom he created tiles, wall sconces, and decorative elements that became highly sought after by lovers of post-war French design. This glazed ceramic wall mask by Bolesław Danikowski for "Votre Maison" dates from around 1960. It features a beautiful stylized face with sun-like accents, entirely sculpted in relief, surrounded by a perforated circular frieze typical of his decorative vocabulary. The very soft, slightly nuanced beige/grey glaze highlights the hollows and volumes. A striking decorative piece, ideal above a sideboard or in a ceramic wall, to add a touch of Brutalist design and 1960s designer ceramics.
