Hannes Grosse is a German artist, recognized as one of the major representatives of Hard-Edge painting in the 1960s and 1970s. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and lived and worked in Paris, Mexico City, and New York. He later moved to Canada. Grosse is known for his geometric and often undulating works, with very sharp colors, at the crossroads of Op Art and Color Field painting. A painter and printmaker, he also created three-dimensional objects, always in this same vein, inspired by landscapes.
