Rare Transition Period Commode With Projecting Backs
A rare commode with projecting, curved front, veneered in rosewood and richly inlaid with landscapes, musical instruments, and bundles of branches framed by ribbons within reserves of Greek key patterns in green-stained wood, adorned with pinnacles against a tobacco wood ground. The curved sides are inlaid with urns beneath drapery against a mosaic background. It opens to reveal two wide drawers without a central divider. The top is of molded Aleppo breccia marble with molded edges. Stamped Jean-Baptiste Fromageau, Master in 1755. Transitional period between Louis XV and Louis XVI. 18th century
