"Dutch "in-between" Furniture In Marquetry, Late 18th Century"
A half-moon shaped cabinet, known as a "between-two" cabinet, opening with two tambour doors, inlaid with rosewood, boxwood, and amaranth. Dutch work, late 18th century. The top is inlaid with an antique-style cup in the center, richly decorated with flowers and green foliage, within which a perched bird is depicted. The canted uprights have simulated fluting in rosewood marquetry on an amaranth ground, highlighted with Greek key patterns. The rails and three feet are inlaid with flowers. Original lock with two keys. Provenance: Château in the Orne region.
