Large Carved Plane

A very beautiful carved wooden plane, featuring a head in bust form, marked S * U * Z * L and dated 1807, with a lovely patina! In fairly good condition, with traces of woodworm and some lifting of the wood above the "U" on the blade. The original blade is present, but the corner is missing. Is it walnut or cherry wood? It measures 60 cm.
