Biarritz Pigeon Shooting Trophy Cup, English Silver Mappin & Webb Coat Of Arms
Small Pigeon Shooting Cup or Trophy, made by the City of Biarritz in 1912, in solid English silver hallmarked Mappin & Webb* London 1911, round base decorated with three rifles, body adorned with the enameled coat of arms of the city of Biarritz, dating from the very early 20th century. This cup is in good condition, of very fine quality. Hallmarked on the rim and signed on the base (see photos). Note: it is slightly tilted, has some minor soiling, a few scratches, and signs of age (see photos). *Mappin & Webb was a company originally founded in Sheffield, England. The company is a renowned firm of brilliant silversmiths and cutlery makers whose origins date back to 1774 when Joseph Mappin (SNR) founded the company.
