18th-century Apothecary - Rare Pharmacy Mortar
18th Century Apothecary Mortar and Pestle
Used in pharmacies manufacturing ointments, pills, and other concoctions in the 18th century.
Beautiful turned walnut body in the shape of a wide spool.
Set with a steel band at the base and under the mortar to contain the movement of this burr walnut piece.
Topped with a limestone mortar with handles, one of which is fitted as a spout for pouring liquids.
Very good overall condition.
No damage to the stone mortar.
Rare addition: A horseshoe-shaped steel support is fixed to the wood to allow the suspension
of small jugs or large containers when pouring liquids.
Total height: 85 cm.
