A sublime Louis XVI period mahogany tilting pedestal table, circa 1780. This mahogany tilting pedestal table, dating from the Louis XVI period, rests on a tripod base. The table is topped with an octagonal surface covered in veined white marble, within a mahogany frame highlighted with stringing. The edge of the top is encircled by gilt brass moldings. The table rests on a central fluted column inlaid with gilt brass stringing, terminating in a curved tripod base clad in brass and fitted with casters. The top can be tilted using its push-button release mechanism. It offers good stability. The wood is of very high quality. This piece of furniture is crafted with clean and refined lines.
