This work is imbued with the notions of the sacred and spirituality, in a constant dialogue between profound calm and radiant energy. It evokes an inner sun, a source of light emanating from matter itself, both contained and vibrant.

The work is resolutely gestural, blending brush and palette knife. The surface, extremely textured and rich in material, is animated by broad, dynamic gestures, punctuated by splashes of gold paint. The composition is built on a constant tension between control and letting go, revealing the energy of the gesture while maintaining an inner structure.

The stable, almost meditative ultramarine background serves as a foundation for this luminous effervescence. The vibrant and energetic gold paint is powerfully inscribed upon it. Grains of pontifical incense, black and gold, are embedded directly into the material. Their presence evokes ritual, spirituality, and a sacred dimension, situating the work within a time that is both intimate and universal.

At its center, a golden disc appears, resembling a celestial body or a radiant sun. The cracks in its surface allow the underlying blue to show through, revealing a subtle interplay between light and darkness, surface and depth. The blue persists beneath the gold, like a silent, stable, and immutable presence.

The work remains intentionally open, on the border between symbol and abstraction. It does not impose a single interpretation but invites the viewer to feel an inner force: a light, an energy, a presence, which each person is free to name—or not.

The Artist:



Jérôme Lefebvre Deram was born in Dunkirk in 1982 and works in Northern France.


After studying law, he worked for several years in politics before entering the seminary, first in Italy, then in France, where he spent five years. Back in civilian life, he continued his quest for meaning, unity, and transcendence through painting.

Behind this journey, one glimpses a complex man, rich in profound intellectual and human experience, who combines rational thought with an intense personal and spiritual quest. His work embodies a search for truth, a balance between intuition and reflection, and an exploration of human dualities, between shadow and light, chaos and order. Influenced by Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism, and Lyrical Abstraction, Jérôme Lefebvre Deram follows in the footsteps of these movements, allowing him to translate this intimate and powerful experience into the union of color, gesture, and material as a vehicle for profound emotions and meanings. His paintings become for the viewer a subject of reflection, meditation, and contemplation.
