This work places painting at the heart of its subject. It seeks neither narrative nor representation: only the pictorial language matters, in its most direct and essential form. The work is rooted in a search for balance between freedom of gesture and structure, between spontaneity and rigor.
The paint is applied with a brush, then worked through successive scrapings, the material being deposited layer upon layer using a trowel. The gestures, vertical and horizontal, intersect and repeat: from left to right, from right to left, from top to bottom, from bottom to top. This repetition situates the work in time, giving rise to an architecturally structured composition, patiently constructed.
The palette is dominated by blues, accompanied by touches of gold, silver, white, and green. Some layers meet and blend, creating marbling and filigree. Others remain deliberately distinct, retaining their full intensity. The colors don't always physically blend: they interact and recompose themselves in the viewer's eye.
The pictorial space is conceived as an all-over composition: the entire surface is occupied, without center or periphery. There is neither perspective nor focal point. The painting unfolds as an active, vibrant, and homogeneous surface, where each area contributes to the same level of intensity.
The work offers a visual and sensory experience. The gaze moves freely, without any imposed direction, and the painting reveals itself over time, through a silent dialogue between colors, matter, and time.

The Artist:
Jérôme Lefebvre Deram was born in Dunkirk in 1982 and works in Northern France.
After studying law, he worked in politics for several years before entering the seminary, first in Italy, then in France, where he spent five years. Returning to civilian life, he continues his quest for meaning, unity, and transcendence through painting.
Behind this journey, one glimpses a complex man, rich in profound intellectual and human experience, who combines rational thought with an intense personal and spiritual quest. His work embodies a search for truth, a balance between intuition and reflection, and an exploration of human dualities, between shadow and light, chaos and order. Influenced by Impressionism, Abstract Expressionism, and Lyrical Abstraction, Jérôme Lefebvre Deram's work continues in the tradition of these movements, allowing him to translate this intimate and powerful experience into the interplay of color, gesture, and material as a vehicle for profound emotions and meanings. His paintings become, for the viewer, a subject for reflection, meditation, and contemplation.
