Cornelis Verbeeck or Cornelis Verbeecq (born around 1590 in Haarlem (Dutch Republic) and died in the same city between 1637 and 1657[1]), was a marine painter of the Dutch Golden Age, particularly known for his paintings depicting the navy of the Dutch Republic during the Dutch Golden Age. Description: Oil on oak panel in very good condition, depicting ships of the line of the Dutch Navy (East India Company?) on a choppy sea. The work is similar to an archive of the 'RKD' (see reference image, Cornelis Verbeeck Marine). The work is unframed. Provenance: Former private collection, Brussels
