" Mayan Gold Medallion Depicting A Tribal Chief Called 'ahau', Dating Back To The 15th Or 16th"
Mayan gold medallion depicting an 'Ahau' tribal chief. Prestigious amulet, dating back to the 15th-16th century. The medallion, approximately 5 cm in diameter and made of 12 kt gold, weighs 18.5 grams and probably arrived in Europe through the sacking of Latin America by the Spanish in the 16th century. Excellent goldsmith workmanship without any type of welding, with two lateral holes that linked the medallion to a rich and eye-catching solid gold necklace. We can assume that it is the tribal chief's necklace, with his effigy masterfully portrayed. Unique item from a refined collection.
