The ceramicist Bel Delecourt was born in Paris in 1915. In 1933, she obtained her degree in commercial engineering. When World War II broke out, Bel Delecourt settled in Quimper.
She decided to visit the Henriot pottery factory. At the same time, she enrolled in evening classes at the School of Fine Arts. In 1947, she became one of the pottery's artists. Her works were already appreciated. She sought to create objects that reflected her personality.
A baby formula brand launched a competition for its advertising. Bel Delecourt got to work and created a small earthenware statuette that would solidify her reputation. Reputation. Recognized as a ceramicist, she soon exhibited in New York. It was a triumph. Collectors clamored for her works.
In 2011, the Musée départemental breton in Quimper dedicated a major exhibition to her.
