Brother of the novelist Colette Yver, he studied at the Rouen Academy of Painting with Fréchon, Angrand, and Joseph Delattre. A respected portraitist, he was also a skilled landscape painter and traveled extensively in Brittany, along the banks of the Seine, and in the Normandy countryside with his friend Delattre. He exhibited regularly at the Rouen artists' salon. A chapter is devoted to this artist in the definitive work on the Rouen School by François Lespinasse.
