1574. Title page with a rich architectural woodcut border, featuring at the center God the Father bestowing a blessing; at the bottom Aaron and Moses. Within framed medallions are depicted episodes from the Bible: the Sacrifice of Isaac and Saint Jerome composing the Vulgate. There are hundreds of woodcut illustrations set within vignettes framed by Renaissance borders with grotesques; initials of excellent workmanship. Text in two columns within a typographical frame, with marginal references. Edges speckled in red. Contemporary full vellum binding with yapp edges, with 19th-century restorations to the spine, title lettered in gilt on a spine label. An excellent copy of the Vulgate with the text in Latin. Only a very slight marginal dampstain at the upper margin at the end of the volume.
