"Baroque Carved And Giltwood Frame"
Italy, late 17th – early 18th centuryImportant Baroque period frame in carved and gilt wood, characterized by a rich decoration of vegetal motifs and scrolls, typical of Italian production from the late 17th century to the early decades of the 18th century. The original gilding, partially darkened and oxidized over time, retains an authentic and consistent patina, with an alternation of gilded and darker areas that enhances the depth of the carving. The reverse, constructed from solid wooden boards assembled by hand, shows clear signs of manual workmanship and old, inactive woodworm holes consistent with the period.Originally made to house an important painting, the frame is today equally suitable for displaying an antique artwork or as a strong decorative element in its own right. Overall good condition, with wear and small losses consistent with age.Measurements:Overall dimensions: 82 × 98 cmDepth: 5.7 cmSight size: 58.3 × 74.7 cmFrame width: 11.7 cmRabbet: 2 cm
