Antique Glassmaker's Display Shelf, 19th Century, Normandy Folk Art.
Artist: Normandie France
Antique and magnificent Louis XV style oak glass cabinet, dating from the 19th century. Originating in Normandy, it features small shelves on the front, surmounted by a gendarme's hat-shaped crossbar finely carved with flowers and scrolls. The lower crossbar is shaped. The uprights are carved with floral motifs and terminate in small, ornate feet. This piece makes a striking decorative statement and can be placed on a surface or hung on the wall. It has two hanging hooks on the back. Originally, this type of cabinet was intended to hold the household's fine glassware. Probably from Normandy, early 19th century, with a lovely period patina and a waxed finish. Rare on the market today, it is full of charm and history.
