A silver sugar spoon, formerly gilded, with a violin-shaped pattern and foliate clasps. The bowl is finely openwork with a rosette border. Paris, 1762-1768, before June 27, 1765. Made by master goldsmith François Thomas Germain, son of Thomas, who was admitted to the guild in 1748. On November 18, 1748, he was appointed Goldsmith and Sculptor to the King, succeeding his father, by decree of the council. He registered his hallmark on November 27, 1748. He was declared bankrupt on June 27, 1765. Weight: 114g - Length: 22.3cm - Diameter: 6.7cm. Condition: Good. The spoon was originally gilded, and traces of this remain. It has been engraved with a monogram and previously repolished.
