VERY RARE FINE FAIENCE PLATES, HAND-PAINTED REVERSE, 1800, FROM THE BELLEVUE LES TOUL MANUFACTURE. UNSIGNED, AS IS SO OFTEN THE CASE. SUPERB DESIGNS PAINTED IN ULMENE BLUE. PEASANT SCENES: SMALL FORTIFIED VILLAGE, BOAT, VEGETATION IN THE JAPONISE STYLE. THE DETAIL IS EXTRAORDINARY. THE BLUE OF THE DECORATION IS MAGNIFICENT ON A CREAMY BACKGROUND. TWO PLATES IN VERY GOOD CONDITION FOR 220 YEARS OLD! SUPERB! ONE PLATE WITH A SMALL CHIP RESTORED AT 7 O'CLOCK. VERY BEAUTIFUL ENAMEL. The details of the paintings are superb, very fine drawings. Very beautiful and rare collector's plates. Some plates are on display at the Toul Museum.
