A beautiful piece of gilded wood, with its original gilding and some chips, featuring an oval opening in the center. Probably a former reliquary, its original contents lost and replaced by a cracked, convex oval mirror in the 19th century. Vigorous carving, original gilding. France or Italy, 18th century.
