"Architectural Carved White Marble Console Italy, 16th–17th Century"
Architectural console in carved white marble, probably from the Apuan area (Carrara), datable to the 16th–17th century, executed with refined sculptural skill and conceived as a wall-embedded architectural element. The structure features a rough, squared rear section, intended for insertion into masonry, and a fully carved front, richly decorated with bold acanthus leaves, volutes and classical mouldings. The ornamental language, balanced and plastic, reflects a late Renaissance tradition, with stylistic elements extending into the early 17th century.By typology and proportions, this console was most likely intended to support a small sculpture, bust or decorative object, and would have been used in civil or religious architectural settings, such as side altars, niches, chapels, loggias or representative interiors. The condition is good, with surface wear and abrasions consistent with age and original function. The marble retains an authentic patina, with no evident modern alterations.Dimensions:Height: 25 cmWidth: 21 cmTotal depth: 31 cm– projecting section: 22 cmWeight: approx. 20 kgFor further information, photographs or technical details, please do not hesitate to contact us.Worldwide shipping available with professional packing.
