Manufactured objects. A leading figure in post-war art, a founding member of Nouveau Réalisme, and renowned for his accumulations of everyday objects, the artist Arman (1928-2005) also created a chair, the Cello Chair, a work full of humor and poetry. It is currently the sculptor's only piece of furniture in production, according to Hugues Chevalier. The manufacturer is showcasing it in its showroom to coincide with the major retrospective currently being held at the Centre Pompidou. "With this model, Hugues Chevalier offers everyone the opportunity to acquire a genuine work of art by a world-renowned French artist, for whom the violin was an emblematic object," explains the manufacturer's press release. Indeed, instruments greatly inspired Arman, who successively cut them up, recomposed them, burned them... and sculpted them!
