"Morris Armchair, 20th Century"
A very attractive pair of Morris armchairs – England, early 20th century. A typical Morris armchair of the Arts & Crafts movement. The wooden ratchet-operated reclining backrest offers several comfortable positions. Wide armrests and vertical spindles are characteristic of English production from the period 1890–1910, inspired by William Morris and the Gustav Stickley school of furniture design. The beautiful original patina of the wood testifies to careful use and maintenance. The seat and backrest have been restored and upholstered in a contemporary geometric fabric that enhances the elegant simplicity, harmonious proportions, and clean lines—a perfect illustration of the Arts & Crafts taste for functionality combined with the beauty of handcrafted work. Condition: very good overall condition, recently restored upholstery, fully reupholstered. An authentic piece combining comfort, character, and timeless aesthetics—ideal for an interior blending tradition and modernity.
