18th Century Red Varnished Martin Box
A lovely 18th-century wooden box decorated with Martin varnish on a red ground with gilt chinoiserie, imitating Far Eastern lacquer. The domed lid shows some wear and a repaired crack on the edge; these are normal signs of age and do not significantly detract from the legibility of the decoration. The box is solid overall, the period lock has its key and functions normally. The hinges are also original; everything is in its original condition. Dimensions: 19.3 x 14.2 x 8 cm
