Artist: Charles Maurice Favre-bertin 1887-1960
Two Art Deco style greyhound heads on a black, patinated and waxed concrete base, signed on the base "M Bertin," for Charles Maurice Favre-Bertin (1887-1960), French sculptor, decorator, and medalist. A student of Greber and Monni, he exhibited at the Salon from 1920 onwards and received a gold medal in 1929 and an honorary medal in 1956. This sculpture has a striking presence, marked by power and strength, characteristic of works from the 1920s and 30s.
