Autographed Postcard By André Breton To Gérard Legrand - October 1956 - Surrealist Manuscript
Autographed postcard signed by André Breton to Gérard Legrand (surrealist poet, philosopher, and essayist, close collaborator of Breton with whom he published *L'Art magique*). Size 10.5 x 15 cm, envelope preserved. St-Cirq-Lapopie, October 8, 1956. Dearest Gérard, I am delighted to see you and Clarisse again soon. We plan to return to Paris on Thursday evening. Thank you for having, two weeks ago, built me this little bridge of planks—not too quick to collapse—with the street, an antiphrasis of Peace. That said, "we" are, alas, no further ahead. We have barely managed to ward off the very real demons who, even before bedtime, had succeeded in making me dread going to bed—but at what cost: the elimination of afternoon drinks, the abandonment of the pipe! But hurrah for the two Ls of all sizes. With Claude Grégory's initial help, it seems to me that things couldn't be more promising. Elisa sends her warmest thoughts to you both. To you and Clarisse, with all my heart. André
