Narcisse Virgilio Díaz de la Peña (1807-1876) - Oil on canvas - Undergrowth. Oil on canvas depicting an undergrowth landscape. Signature: Narcisse Virgilio Díaz de la Peña was a 19th-century French painter, one of the major artists of the Barbizon School. Influenced by Romantic art, particularly Eugène Delacroix, he initially explored Orientalist themes and genre scenes. From the 1830s and 1840s onward, he became closer to Théodore Rousseau and the landscapes of the Fontainebleau forest, which led to his inclusion in the Barbizon School. He became famous for his forest landscapes vibrant with light and color, often enhanced with mythological or anecdotal figures, and for his rich treatment of light effects. On display at the Galerie Courcelles Antiquités, 41 rue des Acacias, in the 17th arrondissement of Paris
