A rare pair of silver candlesticks, faceted with an octagonal base, the bowl engraved with a count's coat of arms. Toulouse, 1716-1717. Master silversmith François Bécane, admitted to the guild in Toulouse on December 18, 1678. He served as warden in 1679 and 1685. He resigned in 1729 and died in 1733. Weight of both: 927g, or 461g and 465g each - height 19.5cm. Condition: good, signs of use, the candlesticks are well hallmarked. The silversmith's mark was struck twice, overlapping. They escaped being melted down. The coat of arms is beautiful. Rare, museum-quality piece.
