Object description :

"Louis XIV Period, Important Piece Of Fabric Embroidered With Gold On Silk, Late 17th / Early 18th Century."
A very rare and important piece of fabric made between the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It features a splendid gold embroidery, highly raised (likely embroidered on another material to create thickness, perhaps pieces of leather). The motif depicts countless branches covered with various types of flowers and leaves. The silk color displays numerous variations, ranging from light gray to celadon. This embroidery is lined with fine cotton. It should be noted that the gold embroidery is very well preserved; it is not oxidized and is much more brilliant in person than it appears in the photographs. This embroidery is in good to very good overall condition. There are some minor stains and imperfections; having been removed from a previous piece, it may be necessary to hem it. Please look carefully at the photos. Dimensions: Maximum length: 170 cm; Band width: 52 cm. Shipping costs within France (via tracked Colissimo) are €10, and €18 for the European Union. Please contact us for all other destinations. We are available to answer any further questions.
