Pair Of Large Bronze And Porcelain Vases In The Style Of Sèvres
An important pair of large covered porcelain vases or pots, signed Dalem, a 19th-century Parisian decorator, made in the style of Sèvres porcelain. The vases have an elegant, slender baluster shape, resting on a square gilt-bronze base. Bronze mounts adorn the necks, lids, and finials, creating a harmonious whole. The porcelain has a deep cobalt blue ground, richly decorated with finely executed giltwork featuring foliate and scrolling motifs. Each piece is decorated with hand-painted medallions depicting, on different sides, gallant scenes in the 18th-century style and architectural landscapes with a château and greenery. The pair demonstrates high-quality decorative work, typical of 19th-century Parisian production, inspired by the models of the Sèvres manufactory.
