The desk opens with three drawers in the upper section, a cylinder, and a large drawer in the lower section. The cylinder reveals compartments, three small drawers, and a beautiful retractable writing surface covered in black leather, patinated by time. The desk top is crowned with a white marble slab veined with gray, encircled by an openwork gilt brass gallery. The desk is richly ornamented with bronze and gilt brass, including keyhole escutcheons, drawer pulls, fluting, gallery, rings, sabots, moldings, and drawer and panel frames.
