Pair Of Polychrome Wooden Candle Holder Angels – 17th Century
Pair of Polychrome Wooden Candle Holder Angels – 17th Century
Magnificent pair of carved and finely painted polychrome wooden candle holder angels, with well-preserved original gilding.
The figures, depicted in a dynamic pose as they advance through the clouds, have richly crafted gilded wings and wear robes with soft, natural folds.
Each angel holds an elegant, twisted cornucopia of plenty painted in blue.
Fruit punctuated by leaves is carved on top, surmounted by a candle holder.
The faces, with their serene and delicate expressions, testify to the quality of the carving and the high level of craftsmanship of the original workshop.
Characteristics: *
Material: Carved and polychromed wood
* Period: 17th century, attributable to an Italian artistic circle, likely the Lombard or Central Italian school. *
Condition: Excellent, with minor wear consistent with age. *
Height: cm. 64/61 x 32 - depth cm. 28 - base cm. 22/24 x 20
Our sculptures are therefore a triumph of 17th-century Italian art in the purest Baroque style, a rare beauty. The presence of much of their original polychrome and gilding, marked by a pleasant craquelure, is extraordinary. We can safely say that, given their age and state of preservation, they are rare objects on the market and have a striking visual impact, enhancing and amplifying the beauty of the home they adorn. Works of great devotional charm and guaranteed visual impact, ideal for collectors of high-quality sculptures, sacred spaces, or prestigious historical furnishings.
