Decorative project conceived for a monumental ceiling, organized through an arched composition that clearly defines the different decorative zones. At the center opens a large curvilinear figurative scene, conceived as a celestial allegory, set within a painted architectural framework that structures and clarifies its reading.
On either side of the central scene, the artist presents to his patron—today unidentified—two different decorative versions, proposed as alternatives. These solutions are based on systems of curved frames, geometric rhythms, and ornamental elements that organize the ceiling surface in a balanced and symmetrical manner. The direct juxtaposition of the two versions underlines the nature of the sheet as a presentation drawing, intended to support a process of choice.
The decorative language combines a classicized Art Nouveau sensibility with a more restrained and structured approach, characteristic of decorative projects from the first half of the twentieth century. The design is intended for a representative interior, most likely a public hall, a theatre, or a concert venue, where painted architecture plays a central role in shaping the perception of space.
Signed lower right “Carl Fey.” The dating remains uncertain; a possible indication referable to the 1940s is not clearly legible. The specific location for which the project was intended has not been documented.
