Miron Kiropol, Naïve Scene With Figures, Romania, France, Oil On Canvas, Circa 1980, Naïve Art
Artist: Miron Kiropol
A genre scene depicting village life with animated, moving figures. In the tradition of Romanian folklore, Miron Kiropol (1936-2020) offers, with his poetry and a certain sensitivity, a naive art full of life and humor. The work is an oil on cardboard and is sold as is: some losses and scuffed corners (see photos). Dimensions: 54 cm wide x 65 cm high. Miron Kiropol was born in Bucharest, Romania, in 1936. A poet and painter, Miron Kiropol was the son of Mita Stanciu, another artist represented in the Cérès Franco collection. He published *Le Jeu d'Adam*, his first collection, in 1967. *Rosarium*, his third collection, was banned by the Romanian Stalinist regime in 1969. The poet was then forced to leave his country. France granted him political asylum, allowing him to settle in Paris and pursue his dual career as a painter and poet. Regarding writing and painting, Kiropol said: "Writing saved me from playing too much with color. I was mistreating everything. It led me towards a different kind of painting, closer to humanity."
