Wilfrid-Constant Beauquesne was a French painter born in 1840 and died in 1913. He was a student of Harace Vernet and Vernet-Lecomte at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He specialized in military painting, and more specifically scenes from the Franco-Prussian War of 1870. His highly realistic works suggest that he participated in the war as a combatant.
