Double salt cellar in solid silver and engraved crystal. Minerva hallmark, 1st standard, 950/1000. Silversmith Martial Fray, active in Paris between 1849 and 1861. The firm was later taken over by his son-in-law Harleux and his son Philippe. A lovely model, typical of the work of the Fray firm, very ahead of its time, almost foreshadowing Art Nouveau 40 years earlier. The salt cellars are engraved with floral garlands.
