Object description :

"Martial Fray Double Salt Cellar In Solid Silver And Engraved Crystal "
Double salt cellar in solid silver and engraved crystal. Minerva hallmark, 1st standard, 950/1000. Silversmith Martial Fray, active in Paris between 1849 and 1861. The firm was later taken over by his son-in-law Harleux and his son Philippe. A lovely model, typical of the work of the Fray firm, very ahead of its time, almost foreshadowing Art Nouveau 40 years earlier. The salt cellars are engraved with floral garlands. The two salt scoops are also silver, but by another silversmith. The entire set is in good condition. Gross weight 271 grams. Rare model. All questions welcome.
