Circular relief plate "The Hell of the Lustful". Bronze cast with a medal patina, made after a model by Jean-François Garnier (1820-1895). Art Nouveau period. A rare and high-quality piece. Diameter 57 cm. A signed edition (diameter 53 cm) is part of the Louvre Museum's collections and is exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris. Another edition is part of the Lyon Museum's collections. Jean Garnier (1853-1910) was a sculptor, enameller, and engraver from the Vendée region of France. A self-taught artist with comprehensive skills, he also designed enamel jewelry. An active artist at the end of the 19th century, Garnier exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français, where he received an honorable mention in 1882. The plate dates from the late 19th/early 20th century. It is a highly decorative piece with a superb patina.
