Born in Turin, Marie Thérèse Louise of Savoy-Carignan was a princess of the House of Savoy. In 1767, she married Louis-Alexandre de Bourbon, Duke of Penthièvre and Prince of Lamballe, great-grandson of Louis XIV and Madame de Montespan. Married at 17, the Princess of Lamballe was widowed at 18.
