Splendid and luminous Impressionist oil on canvas, 44cm x 63cm plus period frame 68cm x 86cm, titled on the back "Martigues", signed lower left "MALFROY". Henry Malfroy (born in 1895), a student at the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and a disciple of his father, Charles Malfroy (often confused with him). He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants until 1934. An Impressionist painter, he frequently depicted the Mediterranean coast; his luminous works were very successful.
