Height: 29 cm x Diameter: 13.5 cm.
Early 19th century, in the manner of Claude Galle.
Very good condition (minor wear on the original mercury gilding. Slight difference in motif on the bobèches).
This model of flambeaux is commonly associated with work of the leading bronzier Claude Galle (1759-1815), who supplied variants of this model to the Château de Fontainebleau in 1804 (illustrated in Jean-Pierre Samoyault, Pendules et bronzes d'ameublement entrés sous le Premier Empire; Catalogue des Collections de Mobilier, Musée National du Château de Fontainebleau, 1989, p. 175, no. 155). Related examples are illustrated in Hans Ottomeyer and Peter Pröschel, Vergoldete Bronzen, 1986.
