Large Carved Walnut Desk With Extensions, Provençal Style, Late 19th Century

Large Provençal-style carved walnut table, late 19th century, with two large extension leaves. This superb table rests on four Louis XV legs carved with a shell motif and ribboned floral branches. The apron features a pronounced molding and is carved with olive branches framing an Etruscan vase on the front and back. The sides are also carved with a floral branch design framing a basket in a wickerwork style. The undulating tabletop is surrounded by a strong cyma molding. This table has two Italian-style extension leaves that fit into each end and are as undulating as the tabletop. The extension leaves are made of solid walnut, like the tabletop. A very high-quality piece of furniture, very sturdy and in very good overall condition.
