Germany or Flanders, first half of the 17th century
Carved and polychromed oak. Height: ca. 50 cm.
A devotional sculpture of the Virgin Mary, shown kneeling with her head gently inclined and her arm extended. The figure, carved in oak and retaining much of its original polychromy in red, blue and flesh tones, likely formed part of a larger ensemble, possibly an Annunciation or Nativity group.
In fairly good condition, both hands are missing.
