Louis XIV Style Mirror With Enclosed Panels, Silvered Carved Wood, Mercury Glass, 18th Century
Small in size but with a strong presence, this early 18th-century mirror, from the Louis XIV Regency period, is a model with a frame and spandrels, crafted entirely from carved wood, decorated in the Bérain style with acanthus leaves. It retains its original warm patina of silver leaf, smoothed by centuries. (Some losses and cracks on the frame glass). The mirror has an ash-colored mercury glass and a wooden backing.
