Giorgio Petracci, born in 1974 in Fermo, Italy, is a contemporary artist whose work explores matter, memory, and visual layers. Trained in Bologna between 1994 and 2001, he simultaneously worked in the archaeology department, a pivotal experience that shaped his relationship to traces, ancient surfaces, and materials imbued with history.
In the 1990s, he participated in the XY collective in Bologna, then spent time in London in 2001-2002, where he exhibited in several galleries. Later settling in Paris, he refined his personal artistic practice. Between 2008 and 2010, he worked in Milan in interior design for a major fashion house, further developing his mastery of materials and light.
Since 2011, he has devoted himself exclusively to painting and sculptural objects. Wood has become his preferred medium: not as a mere surface, but as a living material, imbued with grain and memories.
His works are characterized by veils, fissures, transparencies, and effaced gestures, constructing a silent and meditative interior space.
Today, Petracci exhibits regularly in France, Belgium, Italy, and China, and his work enjoys increasing international visibility.

IO13, 2022.
Gesso and acrylic on wood. 60 × 80 × 4 cm.
Signed, titled, and dated on the reverse.

IO13 belongs to Petracci's recent period, when he was deepening his research on The pictorial veils and the memory of surfaces. The wooden support—essential in his practice—is covered with gesso, creating a matte and luminous base onto which the artist applies thin layers of acrylic. The delicately hazy composition plays on gradations of pink, bluish-gray, and erased areas. A few dark lines float in the center, like a graphic fissure, introducing a breath, a movement. The work evokes an inner space, a mental landscape, or the trace of an apparition.
This painting illustrates the artist's central themes: fragility, the stratification of time, the tension between erasure and revelation, the poetry of silent materials.
IO13 is a meditative, subtle painting, perfectly representative of Petracci's pictorial maturity.
