Ceramic Mirror, Les Quatre Potiers, France Circa 1965
Artist: 4 Potiers
A glazed earthenware wall mirror made by Les Quatre Potiers in their Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye workshop in the mid-1960s. Square with rounded corners, it features a thick frame adorned with a hand-painted design of small stylized red, blue, and green flowers on a creamy white background. This simple, regular motif, applied with a brush to a matte glaze, reflects the popular and poetic vocabulary of the collective, founded in 1956 and known for reinterpreting the pottery tradition of the Nièvre region with a free and welcoming spirit. Poised between decorative art and craftsmanship, this mirror expresses the sincere and joyful simplicity of post-war French design. France, Saint-Amand-en-Puisaye, circa 1965. Condition: Good vintage condition, minor glaze irregularities and signs of wear.
