Oil On Canvas By Lucien Emile Porcheron
Artist: Lucien Emile Porcheron
Lucien Emile Porcheron (1876-1957) was a highly accomplished Post-Impressionist painter, admitted to the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1894. A student of Jean-Léon Gérôme, Porcheron also studied with Henri Matisse and Georges Braque, and later with Gabriel Ferrier in 1903-1904. Cultivating a deep appreciation for beauty, he never sought fame and remained reluctant to sell his works throughout his life. It was in 1992 that his studio was sold at auction at Drouot, dispersing 124 canvases.
