This Provençal commode, crafted from solid, molded, and carved walnut, dates from the Louis XV-Louis XVI Transition period. It rests on finely carved, cabriole legs terminating in scrolls. The commode's curved front features two drawers and is topped with a superb molded, canted, and stepped blue Turquin marble slab. The canted uprights are inlaid with fluting. The openwork legs and stretchers are richly carved with a motif of ribboned roses and acanthus leaves. It boasts beautiful gilt bronze ornamentation, including keyhole escutcheons and drawer pulls.
