Pippo Oriani - Eucaustic On Cardboard
Artist: Pippo Oriani
Encaustic painting on cardboard by Pippo Oriani. Framed. Pippo Oriani (1909-1972), from a family of builders, abandoned his architectural studies in Turin to devote himself to painting. Early on, he frequented Futurist circles and, from 1929 onwards, participated in exhibitions that led him to meet Severini, Kandinsky, Delaunay, Picasso, and Mondrian, fostering a modern figurative style between Cubism and Futurism. After his involvement in the fight against Fascism, he returned to painting in the 1950s and developed a period marked by dreamlike imagery, using collage, tar, and encaustic to create deep and mysterious spaces. His smooth work, structured by graffiti and shadows that carve out space, lends a celestial dimension to his compositions. Present in numerous international museums, his work is among the most significant in post-war Italian painting.
